Petar Radoev Dimkov, MSc and PhD Candidate, is a Bulgarian linguist, cognitive scientist and philosopher with a wide scope of interests from diverse areas of knowledge. He has a Bachelor's degree (2009-2013) in Applied Linguistics from the Department of Germanic and Romance Studies at the South-West University “Neofit Rilski” (Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria) and a Master's degree (2013-2015) in Cognitive Science (Modules: Philosophy of Mind and Cognition, and Neuroscience) from the Institute of Cognitive Science at the University of Osnabrück (Osnabrück, Germany).
Currently, Petar Dimkov is a regular PhD student in Contemporary Philosophical Theories (2018-2021) in the Department of Philosophical and Political Sciences at the South-West University “Neofit Rilski”, Blagoevgrad, with scientific supervisor Dr. Gergana Popova. The topic of his dissertation is: “Dynamics of Creativity in the Phenomenon of Boundary Situation (Karl Jaspers)”. From 2012 to date, he conducts scientific research and research in the area of philosophy. He has published more than ten articles in reputable journals, including articles in the areas of psychology, metapsychology, phenomenology, psychiatry, philosophy, philosophy of language, neuropsychopharmacology. Petar Dimkov's main interests are the psychology and neuroscience of creativity and, more generally, philosophy, psychiatry and psychopharmacology.

As a PhD candidate, Petar Dimkov is currently doing research in the areas of cognitive science and philosophy, principally qualitative and interdisciplinary research. There are two main areas of interest, namely the interdisciplinary creativity research and the existential philosophy of Karl Jaspers, in particular the so called boundary situations (Grenzsituationen in German), on which Dimkov's interest is focused. Despite the huge amount of research on creativity, even today creativity regarded as a process and as a personality trait remains insufficiently explored. The discipline of neuropsychology today makes it possible to establish a correlation of particular brain structures and their respective functions to particular elements and aspects of creativity. Here the interest is directed mainly towards the effects of psychotomimetic drugs such as LSD-25, psilocybin, mescaline, and 2-CB, and their creativity potentiating effects. On the other hand, all boundary situations such as choice, struggle, guilt and anxiety allow enough space for research of the manifestations of consciousness at the very limit of consciousness. In his doctoral dissertation, Petar Dimkov aims to connect and correlate creativity and being in a boundary situation: how and why is one creative when one happens to be in a boundary situation? In this way, a vast field for research is revealed as boundary situations are numerous in number.
